Recycled Soda Can Wonder Woman Craft

We love Wonder Woman around here! For this month’s kids craft stars aluminum can challenge, we made a cool-looking recycled soda can Wonder Woman craft. All you need is paint and an LED tea light to make it.

Recycled Soda Can Wonder Woman Craft

Supplies Used:

• empty, clean soda can
• acrylic craft paint – blue, red, gold, and white
• paintbrushes
• permanent black marker

Instructions:

Start by painting a white base coat over the entire surface of the can. I used Enamel Paint which can be found by the regular acrylic paint. Acrylic paint would probably work as a base coat too, but I wanted to be sure that it didn’t chip/scratch easily. You could also try a multi-surface acrylic paint also found in the same craft section.

Once dry, take the blue acrylic paint and add a thick, blue stripe along the bottom section of the soda can. It should come up to about 1 – 2 inches from the bottom. Let dry and add a second coat.

Next, is making Wonder Woman’s belt. Take yellow or gold paint and add a thin strip along the top of the blue stripe. Paint a small triangle (refer to photo). This will be the front of the soda can.

Paint a ‘W’ Wonder Woman symbol just above this triangle. I started by painting a ‘W’ with another ‘W’ underneath. Then added the wings on each side coming out from the top of the ‘W.’

Paint the remaining can with red.

Let this dry and then add a second coat of both the red and gold.

Outline with a black permanent marker.

Add white stars to the blue section.

Optional: Poke holes through with a sharp point (adults only).

Add an LED tea light and turn off the lights! The tea light should glow through the holes.

If not using as an aluminum can lantern, you could instead store things in it or use it as a fun pencil holder.
