Instructions:
Step one is to print the pencil template and cut out all the parts. These will be the templates to use with the construction paper (or cardstock).
Here is a quick look at what you’ll be making in the next steps:
- pink = pencil shape
- yellow = 3 rectangles
- brown = large triangle
- black = small triangle
- white = skinny rectangle strip
Next, trace around each template on to the colored construction paper and then cut out. The small triangle piece is traced and cut from black paper. The large triangle is made with brown paper. The pencil shaped piece is made with pink paper and the thin rectangle is from white paper.
Now, take the large rectangle template template piece and trace it three times from the yellow paper. Cut these out so you have 3 large yellow rectangles.
You’re all set to assemble! Grab the large pencil shaped pink piece and glue the large brown triangle to the top, followed by the small black triangle.
Next, glue the thin white rectangle to the bottom.
Now let’s assemble the middle section. Take each yellow rectangle and write the child’s information on it.
In this example, we did:
- school and teacher
- first and last name
- grade and year
Next, take yellow rectangle #1 and fold it horizontally. Add glue to this section. Place #2 on top of the glue and then fold this piece in half horizontally. Add glue to this section. Then glue #3 on top and fold it in half horizontally.
Finally, glue the 3D yellow rectangle to the center of the pencil.
The paper pencil keepsake craft is complete!
