Letter Activity Card Ideas
ABC Flashcards
For beginners, hold up a card and have the say the letter. Once they have gotten the hang of that, ask them to say the sound it makes. Eventually you can move on to have them name things that start with the letter.
Race to Find the Letter Game
2-3 preschoolers can ‘race’ to find the letter. Place the cards face up scattered in the floor. An adult or older child can name a specific letter. The players then have to race the others to finding it. Alternatively, the person can do letter sounds (i.e. What letter sounds like ….?) or say a word and they can find the letter the word starts with.
Alphabet Letter Hunt
One person hides the cards throughout the home. The other kid(s) try to find as many as they can.
Alphabet Scavenger Hunt
Have your preschooler or kindergartner place a beginning letter sound next to items throughout the home (outside, or anywhere else). For example, placing the letter C on a couch, S on the Stairs, and J next to juice.
