Invitation to Create Aliens from Empty K Cups
My kids and I love the silly new book by Jon Agee titled, Life On Mars. You might be familiar with the super cute and funny book, Lion Lessons, written by him. This new book, is just as fun! The ending had us laughing – even though we knew what was happening the whole time, it still came as a funny surprise. To go along with the story, Little Sister and I made silly aliens from empty k cups. There’s no limit to the creative ways to make your aliens with just a few simple craft supplies.

About Life On Mars:
A young space explorer is absolutely sure there is life to be found on Mars, so he sets off on a solitary mission, determined to prove the naysayers wrong. But when he gets there, equipped with a package of cupcakes for a snack, he sees nothing but a nearly barren planet. Finally, he spies a single flower and packs it away to take back to Earth as proof that there is indeed life on Mars. As he settles in for the journey home, he cracks open his cupcakes, only to discover that they’re all gone! The reader knows the secret: Unbeknownst to the explorer, a Martian has been wandering around the illustrations the whole time–and he got himself a delicious snack along the way. – Penguin Young Readers

Invitation to Create Aliens from Empty K Cups
Supplies:
- empty, clean k cups
/coffee pods or similar
- fuzzy sticks
- wiggly eyes and puffy sticker eyes
- colored Sharpies
or Fun Chalk Markers
Instructions:
I set out all of the craft supplies mentioned along with the empty k cups. We let our imaginations create with no specific end project in mind. On the white k cups, we used Sharpies and Fun Chalk Markers on the black. We love our chalk markers! They show up so awesome on the black.
We stuck fuzzy sticks through the little holes that were already made. They turned out fun! I love that Little Sister made a heart-shape with the fuzzy sticks on top of her black k cup. And colored googly eyes are so much fun!
