Supplies
- clean, dry k cup
- brown and black paint
- brown pipe cleaner
- brown construction paper
- googly eyes
- hot glue gun
Instructions:
Begin by painting the entire outside of the k cup with brown paint. Allow it to dry, then add a second coat.
Cut out ears and an oval shape out of the brown construction paper for the mouth, then use hot glue to attach to the cup. Now attach the eyes with hot glue as well. Be careful to attach directly opposite of the existing hole in the top if the cup. This is where the tail will go.
Cut the brown pipe cleaner in half, curl the end for a tail, then insert through the top hole and you’re finished!
Kids Books About Monkeys
Here are some books that go really well with this craft. We just love tying in literature with our crafts (or the other way around)!
Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed is a must-have book! We used to recite this as children and now I enjoy reciting it with my own kiddos.
One book that my daughter loved when she was a toddler is Little Monkey: Finger Puppet Book because it is a “touchy-feely, finger puppet” book.
Have you ever heard of the book titled Never Smile at a Monkey: And 17 Other Important Things to Remember? It is very informative and funny!
And last, but not least, I had to go with a classic. We love reading Curious George and the Ice Cream Surprise because we get to have ice cream afterward!
Are you ready to recycle these cute little k cups to transform them into a silly monkey? What about making a speedy k cup cheetah or a cute k cup lion? Make all three! They are a blast to make!
