This under the sea line tracing activity can be used a few different ways. You can use it just once -OR- laminate it so it can be reused. If laminated, it would be perfect to place in an activity binder
– this way it can be organized and taken along when visiting grandparent’s or on a road trip.
How to Use the Printable:
You could use it once by letting them trace over the lines with a marker or pencil. Or you could laminate the sheet and use it with dry erase markers. This way they can use it over and over.
‘Trace’ the lines with items such as beads, buttons, playdough
, Goldfish crackers, and so on – the sky’s the limit! If using with playdough, be sure to laminate it first.
We decided to use it first with beads. The pony beads pictured are especially fun because they are glow-in-the-dark. There were sent to us free for review awhile back from CraftProjectIdeas.com and can’t get enough of them! Check out this super cute glow-in-the-dark jellyfish craft we made.

A House for a Hermit Crab
This week’s Virtual Book Club theme is OCEAN with A House for a Hermit Crab by Eric Carle as the featured book. It’s a definite must-read as kids find it silly how the hermit crab ‘collects’ things on its shell. It’s how he decorates his home 🙂
This book teaches so many lessons. At first, the hermit crab is a bit scared that he has outgrown his shell. He has to be brave and leave familiarity to find a bigger shell. It starts in January and goes through all the months while the hermit crab goes on a journey through the seasons. The seasons change and once again he has to leave behind all that is familiar to him to find yet another bigger shell home. This time around he is more confident.
