Fall Writing Activity: What Words Can Be Made From ‘Autumn Friends’
What words can be made from the phrase ‘Autumn Friends’ worksheet is a fun way to fight boredom while getting kids to think.
This type of word find game was always my favorite part of activity and coloring books growing up. It’s especially fun to race against friends or family to see if they find words different than yours and who can find the most smaller words using only these letters.

What Smaller Words Can You Make From ‘Autumn Friends’ Worksheet For Kids
To use this printable Autumn activity, have the kids form as many words as they can in the phrase, “Autumn Friends.” Each individual letter can only be used once. There are two letter ‘N’s and ‘U’s so you may use them twice in a word, but you wouldn’t be able any of the other letters twice since they only appear in the phrase once. (ex: sits wouldn’t be allowed, but sit would)
Here are a handful of smaller words that can be made using the given letters from the phrase:
- mat
- fit
- mist
- tame
- date
- nuts
Kids can work together to form words or against each other. If playing against, score one point for every word that’s not on the other players list. Set a timer to make it harder.
You could make it even more challenging/fun by having them score an extra point for each word that contains five or more letters. For example, rides and names would each be worth 2 points each if the other players didn’t have them written on their word lists.
