Heart Butterfly Cardboard Tube Craft Template
The cardboard tube butterfly with heart shapes makes a cute Valentine’s Day craft idea! It’s also perfect for a preschool Spring, Bug, or Shapes themed and great for kids to practice cutting on a curve. Use our printable template to make your own heart butterfly craft!
Supplies and Printable Template:
- Butterfly Wings Template
- Cardboard Tube
- Colored Paper/Construction Paper
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Glue
- Googly Eyes
- Markers

Butterfly Cardboard Tube Craft Instructions:
1: Print PDF template and cut out pieces. Use these pieces to trace the shapes onto colored paper and cut out. *Another idea would be to have the kids color the hearts and wings – they could even make fun designs on the hearts or leave the hearts off and just add the wings. Be sure to print template on sturdy paper such as cardstock.
2: Glue the small hearts on the butterfly’s wings. (See image above)
3: Cut out a pink craft paper according to the height and circumference of your cardboard tube. Next, glue the big heart on the craft paper.

4: Place glue all over the pink craft paper and wrap it around the tube.
5: Attach a dab of glue to the middle of the butterfly’s wings, then glue the wings to the back side of the cardboard tube.
6: Take a purple pipe cleaner and cut it in half. (Any color is fine). Roll to make the pipe cleaners swirly then glue the antennas on the top.
7: Glue two google eyes on the front.
8: Use a marker to draw the butterfly’s mouth and cheeks.
Now your heart butterfly cardboard tube craft is ready to be displayed as a cute decoration for Valentine’s Day or Spring!
