My son has been really into dinosaurs lately. We did an Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs playdate last month and I had made him Dinosaur Feet. One set is made with Kleenex boxes and one set is empty oatmeal boxes. I glued on green construction paper and made toes from white craft foam.
I thought it would be cute to get a book to go along with the feet. I found the book Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp and thought how perfect! Well…. not so much. The illustrations are cute but they used all these really fancy dinosaur names that I had a hard time pronouncing and didn’t seem to flow with the story of the book. The times we have read it since then, I just made up stories to go along with the pictures. My son got to stomp around in his dinosaur feet!
I also checked out the book How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight? We did a different dinosaur stART project last month with another book from this series – be sure to check out the Dinosaur Popsicle Stick Puzzle we made! My little man really gets into these books. He loves to tell the story himself based on all the dinosaurs’ expressions. On the inside of the front and back covers of the books in this series, there are pictures of all the different kinds of dinosaurs- 2 of each. My son thinks it’s fun to play a matching game with the pictures. He’ll hold his hand over 2 (trying to trick me!) and asks me if they match. It holds his attention sometimes even for an hour!
