Let’s go fishing!
We had fun visiting the ocean in our bathtub…. tee, hee! I set up a surprise bathtub fishing game for my little one and it was a HUGE hit!
Fun for kids of all different ages! It’s so simple to set up and surprisingly not very messy either.
How to set up the Bathtub Fishing Game and make your own:
First, I filled the bathtub with water and added blue food coloring to the water. Don’t worry – it didn’t stain but to be safe, try not to overdo it with the coloring. I also placed towels around the floor. Ours is about a quarter full; you could be brave and fill it all the way! I added my son’s magnets to the water along with some of his toys that matched the ocean theme and placed those in as well.
His reaction when he saw his surprise!
The fishing pole is from a Homemade Fishing Game I made a few years ago. The pole is from a plastic golf club. Any stick shaped thing will do. I tied yarn to it and attached a magnet.
He had a blast fishing for his magnets! I placed a plastic bowl on top of the towels on the floor for him to place the “fish” in that he caught. He also tried to catch the non-magnetic things too making it a great way for him to learn that some things are magnetic and some are not.
We also read the book Blue Sea by Robert Crews (Amazon affiliate link). It’s a very simple story that involves size sequencing- perfect for my 3 year old cutie pie! He has it memorized and can “read” it to me.
