Way Too Cute Turkey Jars {Kids Thanksgiving Crafts}
We had fun making a turkey jar craft to use as a cute Thanksgiving decoration. I am one of those people who holds onto things for recycled crafts (way too many things!) and I am sure glad I saved some of the kids baby food jars from when they were babies.
Supplies:
- empty baby food jar
- Mod Podge
- brown paint
- paintbrush
- tissue paper (white or brown)
- googly eyes
- orange construction paper
- red glitter glue pen or red paint
- feathers
- glue
- scissors
- paper plates
Cut tissue paper into small squares. Toddlers can tear the pieces instead. Mix the Mod Podge and brown paint together on a paper plate (unless you are using brown tissue paper then omit the brown paint).
Paint the jar with the now brown Mod Podge. Stick on the small tissue paper squares so that it is completely covered. Make sure all pieces are pushed down with no ends sticking up.
Paint over the tissue paper with the brown-colored Mod Podge then set aside to dry. When it has finished drying, add on the googly eyes, beak, and red gobbler. Glue feathers on to the back.
My kids made the top 2 and their friends made the bottom 2. It was loved by all four kids whose ages are 2, 6, 7, & 8. They love doing art playdates and I am so happy with how adorable their turkey jars turned out!
We have been using ours as ‘Turkey Mail’ – the kids occasionally find fun things inside like a piece of Halloween candy, notes, and my son received his responsibility chart money in his turkey jar.
