Pumpkin pie is a popular dessert item for the Fall season. My grandma always made pumpkin, apple, and banana cream pie for Thanksgiving every year while I was growing up. Now that I live across the country with my own family, it’s something my kids haven’t gotten the chance to experience. I actually don’t know how to make pie! To give my kids a bit of a pie experience, we made effortless mini pumpkin pies. You will love how simple and quick this is! Plus, it gets kids in the kitchen with a fun, hands-on activity.
The Pumpkin Patch {Ready-to-Read}
We started by listening to a few read alouds (on YouTube) about pumpkin pie books. Our favorite was The Pumpkin Patch!
This is an adorable story recommended for kids ages 4-6. On a class field trip to the pumpkin patch, the girl who is the main character feels disappointed thinking she didn’t pick out the perfect pumpkin. She thinks it is too small. Her father, on the other hand, thinks it’s perfect. Together they make the perfect pumpkin pie to share with her classmates the next day.

After hearing a few books, we were ready to try our hand at making our own mini pumpkin pies.
Beforehand, we picked up a can of Reddi-wip®, Keebler® Ready Crust® Mini Graham Cracker Pie Crust, Dannon® Greek Yogurt Oikos® Pumpkin Pie, and toppings at Walmart. The yogurt could be found both on the shelves in the cooler section as well as in display coolers. The Reddi-wip® was found in the cooler display by the dairy section. The mini pie crusts were on a special aisle display along with the gold sprinkles.
How to make Effortless Mini Pumpkin Pies
Ingredients:
- Keebler® Ready Crust® Mini Graham Cracker Pie Crust
- Reddi-wip®
- Dannon® Greek Yogurt Oikos® Pumpkin Pie (2-4 containers)
- chocolate chips
- edible gold glitter (sparkling sugar)
I set the mini pie crust on a plate and had my kids make their pies at the kitchen table. In between the 2 kids, I set out all the ingredients. The chocolate chips were placed in the little plastic container each ready cust had inside them (separating the graham cracker crust from the foil cup stacked on top of it) . Each of my cuties also got their own spoon for scooping their yogurt.
Ready to see how simple this is?!
1. Scoop the desired amount of yogurt into the pie.
2. Spray the top with Reddi-wip®.
3. Add toppings of choice.
That’s it! Easy pie in 3 steps.
Aren’t the pie crusts adorable? I love how the smaller size is perfect for an individual snack that can be made to your liking. Everyone has the same basic ingredients but can personalize their mini snack pie with toppings of choice. We happen to all like chocolate chips and festive sprinkles, so ours looked pretty much the same. The kids wanted to add marshmallows too, but I forgot to get them. Cinnamon is another idea for those who don’t particularly care for chocolate.
These would be fun as a Thanksgiving snack bar while enjoying the day with family and friends. Not a fan of pumpkin? No worries! They have lots of different flavors including Dannon® Light & Fit® Caramel Apple Pie Yogurt – yum!
