Halloween Haunted House Paper Craft Tutorial
The not-so-spooky haunted houses are made using construction paper (or cardstock) after cutting out the template pieces. You can also choose to color them instead.
Trace the triangle pieces on to black construction paper and cut out. Trace the rectangular-ish shapes on color of choice and cut out. (the 3 main house pieces + the chimney)
Next, trace the four pieces that have windows onto either orange or yellow paper. These will be behind the matching pieces you cut out in the previous steps to create the window light.
Once all the house parts are cut out, it’s time to create the lift-the-flap windows. Use a craft knife to cut where the dashed lines are. The non-dashed lines of the windows are where you will make a crease (fold) so the windows can be opened and closed to reveal the fun Halloween characters that are hiding behind them.
Add glue to the four pieces that have windows making sure to not place glue on the window areas. Place them on top of the matching orange cut-out shapes. Then glue them onto another sheet of colored construction paper or 12 x 12 cardstock to create the haunted house shape.
Glue on the rest of the black triangles and the chimney.
Use the provided templates to create a yellow moon, white ghost and a black bat and cat shapes. Make as many ghosts, bats, and black cats as you’d like. Fold the wings on each bat. Add glue to the back sides of all the Halloween characters with the exception of the folded bat wings. Place them inside the windows and around the house. Glue the moon above the roof.
The folded wings create a fun 3D effect and makes the bats look like they are flying.
Add tiny googly eyes to all the paper characters and draw mouth shapes on the ghosts. Write fun Halloween words or sayings such as “Boo,” “EEK!,” and “Happy Halloween!” Kids can also decorate their haunted houses with stickers and little drawings.
Haunted House Preschool Craft Version 2
I found this really cool printable haunted house activity over at Sarah Jane. It makes a great Halloween craft for younger kids. There are so many different ways you can make and decorate the haunted house.
Here is the haunted house craft that my almost 4 year old made:
First, print the haunted house template.
Follow the instructions for cutting. Let the kids get creative with how they’d like to decorate it.
My son drew little pictures of us in 4 of the windows and then used Halloween stickers to decorate the rest. He is so funny, he wanted to put the mummy sticker over his drawing of mommy…. lol!
