Christmas Cookie Swap
I did my very 1st Christmas Cookie Swap this past week…. YUMMY! Of course my little man wanted to help, so I let him pat his own dough while I made the ones for the Cookie Exchange. He loved it! He thinks it’s so much fun to help Momma ~ and I’m hoping it stays that way (fingers crossed!).
Such a hard little worker!!!
I saw an interesting recipe for Cake Mix Cookies over at Momma’s Playground and decided to try it myself…. please visit her site for the recipe. The 1st two pictures are my version of the Cake Mix Cookies except I used Betty Crocker Cherry Chip cake mix instead.
To make the star shape, I used star-shaped cupcake holders (tinfoil?). For the frosting on all the cookies, I separated into 4 bowls, and added gel food colors (green, red, and yellow).
OK, I cheated!!! I bought the sugar cookie mix in a package where you only have to add eggs and butter. I am not a from-scratch baker. I spent most of my childhood years with my grandparents (my mom was a single parent working and going to school). My Grandma practically lives for baking! My brother and I helped her bake for as long as I can remember….sadly, it didn’t carry into my adult years.
Here is my 1st attempt at making Cookie Cutter Sugar Cookies. I did overcook a batch (or 2…he, he) but overall, they turned out cute. Practice makes perfect, and one day I will be an All-Star Cookie Cutter Cookie Maker *lol!*
My son decorated brown paper lunch bags to put our cookies in. He did a great job too!
For a finishing touch, I added tissue paper on he top (which I got basically for free from CVS the day before).
Happy Baking & Happy Eating!
Thank you for linking to me! All of your cookies look amazing! And I LOVE the gift bags you made to put them in.
