DIY School Supply Teacher Gifts
This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Office Depot, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #inspirestudents – disclosure.
I have a confession. I’m a bit obsessed with back to school supplies….tee, hee! I buy an excess amount of glue, crayons, markers, and notebooks each year plus anything else that catches my eye because it was a great deal or a new item that looked fun. This year, we did a bit of back to school shopping at Office Depot in search of fun items to use for DIY school supply teacher gifts.
Right now, they have these current back to school savings/deals (while supplies last):
- Save $5 Off your purchase of $20 or more on Select Newell Rubbermaid Brands (PaperMate, Expo Neon Window Markers, Sharpie, Uni-Ball, & Mr. Sketch).
- From August 31 – September 6: Sharpie Clearview Highlighter 3pk is $4, PaperMate Clearpoint 2pk is $2, and select Expo Chisel and Ultra Fine 4pks are $2.
- Join the Office Depot Rewards Program.
DIY School Supply Teacher Gifts
I decided to use our purchases to make a school supply cup with a fun teacher saying and also a recycled marker container with another short saying about creativity.
How to make the School Supply Cup
Supplies Needed:
- Plastic tumbler with straw
- Markers, pens, pencil, liquid paper, or any other items that might fit inside the cup.
- Expo Neon Window Markers
Instructions:
Use the Expo Neon Window Markers to decorate the plastic tumbler. I added the following teacher saying to our cup:
“Teachers make the world a brighter place”
I also added stars because they fit the ‘bright’ theme. The markers are just like dry erase markers so the receiver can just erase the saying. This is helpful if you want to write a To and From section right on the cup. Plus, you are able to make mistakes – just erase and start over! Use Sharpies if you’d like a more permanent saying.
Since our cup is clear, I folded a sheet of computer paper and stuck it inside the plastic tumbler. This made the saying more readable. It would be fun to use a plain colored tumbler as well.
Add your school supplies inside the cup. Inside ours are PaperMate pens (that I purchased for an awesome price) and PaperMate Liquid Paper (white out).
How to make the DIY Marker Container:
Supplies Needed:
- Empty baby wipes container or a small shoe box
- Duck Tape
- Markers
Instructions:
Use Duck Tape (either colored or patterned) to wrap the container or shoe box. Add a strip of white tape on the front in the center.
Write a creative saying using Sharpies or something like Mrs. Smith’s Class would work too.
Here’s the crafty saying we used:
“Create Everyday”
Add the markers. I added the Expo ones we used for the School Supply Cup and Mr. Sketch Scented Markers. I was so excited to find the scented markers and bought some for my kids as well. They had fun guessing what each one smelled like and it brought back so many if my own childhood memories.
Since there was a small gap next to the markers, I placed the school supply cup inside for presenting the gift. It was the perfect fit! What fun organization idea or DIY Teacher Gifts would you make? Share in the comments below!
Good idea!
What about student gift from the teachers?
