You’ll Need:
- Printable Dinosaur Dice & Graph
- Printer Cardstock
- Glue
- Scissors
- Small items to use as counters
or dot markers
- Mini Dinosaurs
– optional
- Xyron® Tape Runner
– optional
Dinosaur Dice Instructions:
Cut around the dice outline. Fold along the dotted lines. Glue the tabs to the backside when folded.
→ Tip 1: Prescore the dashed lines to get a cleaner fold. To do this, take a straight edge such as a ruler and use the tip of your scissors or a hobby knife to lightly make a slit. Make sure not to press too hard or you will cut through the paper.
→ Tip 2: Use a tape runner to stick the dice together – no oozing glue messing up the ink!
Ways to Play and Learn
Graphing with Counters
You can use anything for counters that fits in the square such as pennies, gems or even dot/bingo markers. We used jumbo buttons. Each dinosaur had their own color. Little Sister rolled the paper dinosaur dice and marked a box on the graph with a button.
Keep playing this way until one of them reaches the end. Count the buttons and mark which one had the most with a 1, least with a 6 and so on. If you didn’t want to write on the printable so you can use it over and over again, print a 2nd sheet of the dice. Cut all six squares out instead of making another dice. Use these to have the child place from highest to lowest based on how many buttons the matching dinosaur has.
Dinosaur Graph Racing
This was Little Sister’s favorite. She even talked her brother into playing another game with her. Here’s how to play:
Take 6 mini dinosaurs and place one on each printed dinosaur on the graph. We also took another 6 dinosaurs to place at the end so they had to race to get to their friend. Roll the paper dice. Move the dinosaur forward one spot at a time according to what was rolled. Keep playing until all have finished. Line the dinosaurs up as they finish so you have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and last place.

My little guy loves dinosaurs–this is perfect!
Thank you for this CUTE graph! I’m going to use it in my letter of the week – letter D next week! My PreK class loves dinosaurs. I think I’ll send home the graph (sending home materials in packets during this season), and we’ll discuss whole group in Zoom morning meeting which are our favorites. I’ll have the class put small markers like you have. This will help us with standards “I can tell what I like when asked” and “I can tell about my graphs or groups.” Again, thank you! This is so helpful and adorable.
I would like to dinosaur templates and I do not see how to get them
