Potty Train Craft ~ All Aboard!
Last week we had an art playdate with my son’s buddy. I saw a Potty Train Craft over at Little Family Fun and knew instantly that I had to do this craft! The one she made is different so be sure to head over there and check her’s out!
The boys are both 2 and still in the potty training phase. They both love trains! Hopefully this will help motivate them to go more than they already are (fingers crossed).
I would say this is a great Mommy & Me craft, but it’s probably more of just a mommy craft. All the boys really did was paint these cute Train Coloring pages I saw on the Crayola Website. While the trains were drying, the other mom & I used Popsicle craft sticks to create railroad tracks over our blue construction paper (3 pieces of paper taped together on the backside, but of course you can make it as long as you’d like!).
His buddy helped distribute the Popsicle sticks – so cute! We cut out the train and then used a clothespin with cotton balls glued on to create a smoke cloud. Our little guys did help us glue the cotton balls on, but then thought it would be more fun to tear them into a bunch of pieces – BOYS! It looked like it snowed in my living room….. lol! I also glued the train to the inside of the clothespin. The clothespin also acts as a way to move your train forward and clip it to the paper.
Here is my son’s finished Potty Train.
We also wrote “All Aboard the Potty Train” at the end of the track.
Here is his buddy’s finished Potty Train.
We have the finished project hanging in both of our bathrooms. Every time our sons go on the potty, the train gets to move forward on the track. When it reaches the end, they get a prize which right now for my little guy is one of his Easter Eggs with candy in it. I also have added a star at the end of our track and tell him that the train has to reach the end with the star and then he gets candy (fruit snacks, etc.).
Adorable book that goes perfectly with this craft.
Great idea! They look great. I am sure he will want his train to get the end of the track – what motivation.
That is such a great idea. I know it would have inspired my son! THANKFULLY he was an early – fully trained (even at night) at 28 months… I’m hoping his little sis follows suit because then I can get off the diaper train! Thanks for linking up with What are little boys made of? And can I just say how cute the pic of them hugging is??? Awww!
Great idea! I should do a more girly version with Mouse, I want to start potty training her now.
Hi, I just came across your blog love it! The potty train is so clever! I host a party called Tot Tuesdays every week would love it if you would link up your great ideas for tots. I’m also hosting Yummy Mummy Week May 9th-16th. I hope you’ll stop by http://delicious-ambiguity-nennyk.blogspot.com Have a great week!
That looks like a fun way to potty train.
Even if you did do a lot of the work this is such a cute idea. I wish I’d thought to make a potty train when ER was working on this.
Have you heard of The Potty Train book? We bought it a couple years ago with our first child and now at 4 he STILL uses it when he has to potty. Check it out: http://pottytrainbook.com/ I think the site has an audio version of the "potty train chant too.
