Spanglish Books for Kids
We love reading Spanglish Books in our home! They are books that you read in English and then repeat the very same phrase in Spanish. My son thinks it’s so fun to hear me read the English and his Papa read the Spanish parts. If you have ever seen the adorable cartoon El Perro y El Gato, it ends up sounding just like that!

If I Had a Dragon si yo tuviera un Dragon
by Tom & Amanda Ellery
This is a super cute story about a big brother who is told to play with his baby brother. He doesn’t want to play with his brother because he is too little and wishes he could turn into something fun like a dragon. He goes through all different kinds of scenarios of being able to play with a dragon like going for a swim, playing hide & seek, or playing basketball which, of course, the dragon is way to big for! In the end he decides that a dragon doesn’t make a very good playmate and plays with his little brother.
The illustrations are fun and the main reason why my son likes this book so much. This is his favorite page. Morton tries to whistle with the dragon, but the dragon blows fire instead!
I Like Acting Grown Up Me gusta hacer como los mayores
by Rosa Sarda and Rosa M. Curto
I like this book for 2 reasons. The first being that it talks about things that are very familiar to my son. The 2nd reason is that it repeats things in different ways for 2 pages, which is great for learning Spanish!
Excerpt from the book:
Mommy talks on the telephone.

Do You Share?/Compartes? (Are You a Good Friend?/Buenos Amigos?)
by Joanne Mattern.
Part of a series called Are you a Good Friend? Buenos amigos, this book shows all different ways that little kids can share with each other and is very relatable to my son. Great, short book that teaches an important topic.
Learn with Dora!/¡A aprender con Dora!: A Bilingual Adventure
This is an interactive board book with flaps and wheels. Dora teaches her baby brother and sister common words in both English and Spanish.

I will have to look for Rabbit Food and books in Spanish and English. JDaniel may really enjoy my attempts to speak Spanish.
Bilingual books are amazing! And can be quite hard to find, so thanks for linking up 5 great titles!
My son loves to hear stories that have either completely translated phrases (like these) or just some Spanish words peppered throughout. It drives my husband crazy when they end up in the bedtime pile, though. 🙂 Great list! Thanks for linking up at Feed Me Books Friday!
