Teacher Appreciation Gift – Recycled Jar Craft
Yesterday for Teacher Appreciation Day, we gave my son’s kindergarten teacher a recycled jar craft. It reads Super A+ teacher on the front and can be used to store school supplies or other items in. We made our look pretty by placing pipe cleaner flowers we made inside – just to dress it us a little for giving it to her, but you could skip the flowers altogether and decorate the lid for the jar instead.
This craft project would also make a great End of the School Year Teacher Gift.
Supplies Needed:
- Mod Podge and regular glue
- Scissors
- Clear tape and colorer/patterned Duck Tape
- Paintbrush
- Fuzzy sticks (pipe cleaners)
- Pom poms
- Empty, clean jar – we used a pasta sauce jar
- Teacher’s favorite candy or a different ‘filler’
- Free Printable Flowers clipart
- Free Super Teacher Labels – there’s one that is green like shown in our photo, and also one that has a chalkboard background with the center white instead of green.
Thank you to CraftProjectIdeas.com for supplying us with the fuzzy sticks, pom poms, and paintbrush we used for this craft!
How to make this Flower Vase/Recycled Storage Craft for a Teacher Appreciation Gift:
- Cover the outside of the jar with Duck Tape. We used a rainbow patterned one for ours and well as a red colored one in the middle.
- Cut the flower clipart and super teacher label.
- Use Mod Podge to paint the back of the label.
- Stick the label to the front of the jar.
- Paint over the top of the label with Mod Podge. This will give it a clear, protective coats. We painted a 2nd layer over ours.
- Tape the fuzzy sticks to the backs of the flowers. We also taped a laybug and bee to the same fuzzy stick.
- Glue pom poms to the center of each flower.
- Fill with the teacher’s favorite candy or another item. We filled ours with mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and mini candybars.
- Place the flowers inside and then arrange them until you get a result that you are happy with.

Love this idea! The bouquet is such a cute gift for teachers or mothers…May Day (and so on). I pinned it to my Flower Crafts and Activities board.
