Chinese New Year Lantern Craft ~ Easy!
Another Chinese New Year craft we made is this red lantern. The New Year festivities end with a Lantern Festival that honors the 1st full moon. The full moon represents the coming of spring and the lanterns symbolize the brightness of spring. Red is believed to ward off evil spirits. You can read more about Chinese New Year on the Kaboose website.
When it dries, fold the paper in half the long way and cut at 1″ intervals (or less), leaving the top and bottom edges uncut. Unfold the paper and tape/glue the 2 ends together. Push it down so it looks like the 1st picture. Lastly, add a handle. Now your ready to welcome in the spring!
