Pizza Party & Homemade Pizza Cake Recipe
This past weekend we had a Pizza Party at our new home and was even inspired to make a Pizza Cake (scroll down for the pizza cake recipe). I was selected to host a DiGiorno Pizza Party– yay! Have you heard of the House Party website? It’s so worth signing up for if you haven’t yet. It’s a way for companies to advertise their products and in return, the host and guests usually get free stuff, coupons, and are among the 1st people to try new products! This was my 2nd house party and have attended a few as well. They have all been awesome!
Isn’t this a neat idea? They sent the host’s party package in a Digiorno pizza box! This party was to advertise the new DiGiorno pizza & breadsticks combo.
I received 6 coupons for free pizza/breadstick combos to have for my party and then I also received $4 off coupons to give to my guests. Wal-mart has them for just under $7 and the grocery stores had them for $8.
On the pizza party day, I hung the coupons up on the refrigerator with the magnet they also sent in the party pack.
Also in the party pack were cardboard coasters, table tents with trivia game, a mini finger basket ball game, party beads (the kids loved these), a pizza cutter…..
…. and this cute referee apron! The national party day for this event was during March Madness.
There are 3 different varieties of pizza: cheese, pepperoni, & supreme and 2 different types of breadsticks: cheesy & garlic. We cooked 6 pizzas and 4 of the breadsticks for our party of 15 . We had 2 1/2 pizzas leftover!
I also had Spinach dip, salsa, and chips….
egg salad finger sandwiches…..
mini homemade bean burritos….
and a Homemade Pizza Cake!!!
Homemade Pizza Cake Recipe Instructions:
I made a box cake (cherry chip- yum!) and placed it in a casserole dish and baked it according to the box instructions. Of course a circle shaped one would have been better!
Next, I grated white chocolate which will be the cheese.
For the pizza sauce, I added red food coloring to the frosting, but it still remained too pink. I have also seen pizza cake recipes that used strawberry jelly. I sprinkled the “cheese” on and the decided to melt it in the oven.
I think I melted it a little too much!
For pepperoni, I used fruit roll-ups cut into a circle shape. I also had green icing on hand so I decided to add green peppers to it as well.
The finished cake!
It did not turn out as well as I hoped it would but still tasted yummy!
Here are the links to the pizza cakes I saw around the web. Their cakes are beautiful so be sure to check them out!
Having a pizza party? Be sure to check out the Paper Plate Pizza Craft we made awhile back! The Activity Mom made a Felt Pizza that would also be cute to incorporate!
Very fun idea! It looks yuumy! : )
