Outdoor Alphabet Tracing Activity for Kids
Since the weather was so nice last month, I took the kids outside to do a fun alphabet tracing activity. We gathered up their giant foam alphabet puzzle minus the letters and took them outside. I gave them sidewalk chalk placed in chalk holders and a bowl or water.
Both my toddler and my preschooler had a blast doing this tracing activity. They dipped their chalk in water and then traced inside the alphabet cutout. Adding water to the chalk made it more fun for them and it also makes the chalk show up darker. It’s also fun because when you write with wet chalk, you can hardly see it. However, when it dries it appears like magic. Of course Baby Girl had more fun just soaking her chalk in the water and swirling it around! My son loved choosing which letter to do next. When he was done tracing his letters, he colored each of them in. This outdoor activity kept them busy for an hour and a half!
What a fun idea! We have the same foam letters, and I've never used them like stencils! I can't wait to try it!
Ooooh what a brilliant use for those mats!! Never occurred to me to do that. Fantastic.

Thank you for sharing on Kids Get Crafty!

Maggy
