Homemade Number Boards – Learning to Count
One of my son’s favorite activities this past year has been counting in both English and Spanish (he can already count to 39!) so I knew these Homemade Number Boards I saw over at Mom Tried It would be a fun way for him to practice counting.
Instructions for making the Homemade Number Boards:
I made ours with the craft foam sheets that I purchased from the dollar store awhile back. It came in a pack with several of each color. In the center of each I wrote the numbers 1-10. For the circles, I traced a nickel with permanent black marker as many times needed for each number.
He loves to play with rocks, so I gave him some of the decorative ones (that I have no use for anyway!) to place inside the circles while he counts. He has fun switching back and forth between counting in both English and Spanish!
Other ideas to use besides rocks/stones: gems, buttons, play money coins, beads.
What’s you favorite way to teach numbers?
Wow, these look great! I am glad he liked them. Thank you so much for the link.
