These Egg Carton Creatures are so simple to make! We made them as a Halloween Craft and as part of our Learning About the Color Black Theme. We made an egg carton spider, bat, & black cat.
All you need to make these are: an empty, clean egg carton, black and white paint, pipe cleaners, glue, and scissors. I cut a row of 6 from the egg carton and let my son paint it black. When it dried, I cut the pieces apart from each other, but left 2 attached together to make the spider’s body.
To make the spider, I made 4 holes on each side of the body using a scissors. I cut 2 pipe cleaners into 4 pieces each and inserted them in each hole to form the spider’s legs.
To make the black cat, I cut 2 small, black triangles and glued them on the top to form the ears.
To make the bat, I cut one of the egg carton pieces in half and then cut a small u-shape out of both of those (so it resembles a wing shape). I cut a slit on each side of the bat’s body, squeezed glue in each slit, and then added the wings to it.
To finish, I painted the face details with white paint. It would also be fun to use googly eyes!
I knew I was saving those egg cartons for a reason! I wonder if two cups folded and glued together would be the right shape for a pumpkin…?
