Fun Watermelon Craft and a Cookie!
One of my son’s favorite foods is watermelon. He can never eat enough of it! Since watermelons remind me of summertime, we made a paper plate watermelon craft. It turned out super cute and my little one thought it was so much fun. Pair this fun Summer craft with the real thing or make a cookie that resembles a watermelon!
Supplies needed:
- paper plate
- red watercolor paint
- green & white paint
- glue
- black beans (or cut tiny little pieces of black paper)
Paper Plate Watermelon Instructions
First, I had him paint the center circle with red watercolor paint. Next, he used green tempera paint to brush on the outside ring. Since he is only 3, I painted the white ring where the 2 colors met.
When it finished drying, I folded it in half. He placed dots of glue randomly over the pinkish-red part and then placed little black beans on the glue dots -great for fine motor practice!
I also bought him a Watermelon Cookie to eat! If you want to attempt to make these by yourself, head over to Amanda’s Cookin’ to see how she makes her version.
