We are back with a brand new year of creative preschool themes – yay! Our first theme is corn – candy corn, popcorn, indian corn, any kind. Since Little Sister is big on pretend play, we made a candy corn pizza craft which also can be used as pretend candy or a pretend candy corn cookie. We made a tissue paper plate in regular size and then my daughter used highlighters to color a mini one to use as the cookie.
- paper plates – regular and desert sized
- paint, markers, or crayons
- tissue paper
- compass – optional
Candy Corn Pizza Craft
Little Sister wanted to know how the compass worked that we recently purchased. I showed her on the paper plate by making rings to separate the white, orange, and yellow parts of the craft. We cut tissue paper in those colors and glued them in place.
We had to let it dry overnight because we went a little overboard with the glue but setting it in front of a fan would speed up the drying time. Once dry, cut the paper plate pizza into 8 sections. To do this, cut it in half. Cut th 2 halves in half again and then repeat once more with the 4 pieces.
Now the candy corn pizza is ready to be played with!
Mini Paper Plate Candy Corn
We made rings the same way – using the compass. You can either cut the pieces into sections and then color or color the rings first and then cut it.
She loved having a pretend cookie to go along with the pizza! Plus both sizes can be used for pretend candy.
She got out a few of her stuffed animals and played pizza party with them – too cute! She never tires of playing with pretend food.
